Our intelligent route planning system balances safety and speed using a sophisticated algorithm:

Fastest Routes

Uses OpenStreetMap Routing Machine (OSRM) API to calculate the shortest path between two points, optimized for your chosen transportation mode.

Safest Routes

Evaluates multiple route alternatives by calculating crime density along each path. The algorithm:

  • Samples points along each potential route
  • Assigns higher weights to violent crimes (assault, robbery: 8x) and property crimes (burglary, theft: 5x)
  • Calculates overall crime exposure, maximum crime density points, and average crime density
  • Applies a small distance penalty to avoid extremely long detours
  • Selects the route with the lowest overall safety risk score
